What is STEAM?

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These fields of study are important because we experience it every day in our daily lives. We rely on science to forecast the weather conditions. Technology has enabled us to send and receive instant messages using our smart phone devices. We are able to drive across bridges thanks to our great engineering. The study of math allows us to make wiser financial decisions on our investments.

Barack Obama STEM-focused schools give kids opportunities to discover their interests in STEM disciplines. STEAM takes it one step further and adds arts to the mix. Why is art important to STEM?

STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. These are the innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century!

Therefore, our programs are designed to ensure that language is developed first so that our students will have the ability to express themselves. At the same time, our teachers who promote skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and other skills to prepare them for this century. Starting kids young gives them the edge for the future.
